Stunning destinations for travelling on a budget, from culture and architecture to partying and gorgeous beaches, you don’t have to spend a fortune
You can’t talk about cheap holidays without mentioning Prague! With cobbled, winding streets and castles for days, Prague is known as one of the prettiest cities in the world. The popular Old Town Square might be slightly pricier than elsewhere in the city, but you’d honestly be amazed at how little you’ll spend on a holiday there. It’s also known as one of the safest places to travel to, with an incredibly low crime rate.
It’s all easy to walk around so no need to pay for taxis, you can wander the streets from the famous dancing house and Charles Bridge to the John Lennon graffiti wall and even the zoo! But if all that doesn’t make you want to go, then maybe the cheap alcohol and bar crawls alongside the historic churches and landmarks will convince you. It convinced me anyway, because I’ll be there in a few weeks’ time!
Krakow or Warsaw are beautiful places that have so much life and character to them. The cute towns and streets with colourful and traditional buildings make them such charming places to go to. I’ve heard amazing things about the nightlife there as a newer addition to the cities known for parties. I feel like it’s a much better option for partying compared to somewhere like Malaga because here there’s so much to do and see! It’s rich with history and you absolutely HAVE to go to Auschwitz while you’re there and learn about the history of it from WW2. An unforgettable place and as a whole, one of my favourite destinations I’ve ever been to.
Quality and variety is everywhere in Berlin, with insane architecture and culture and an amazing atmosphere for music festivals and partying. Flights are the cheapest I’ve ever seen and when you’re there you’ll be shocked at what you can get for your money. With how incredible the buildings are you’ll never be able to put your camera down. And while you’re there, be sure to go to the Olympic Stadium and one of the many historic sights and museums before spending the night in the huge clubs and bars.
Any Game of Thrones fans out there?
Croatia is one of the places that I think has something for everyone to love. If it’s peace and relaxation you want, then there are so many gorgeous islands with enormous stretches of beaches to enjoy. But if it’s culture or partying you want, then it’s literally a few minutes away. While walking the streets of Game of Thrones in Dubrovnik sounds incredible, it is more expensive there than the other towns. But, if you can afford to spend a little bit extra then it’s well worth it to see the amazing streets that it was filmed in. Then head straight to Split or Hvar to be immersed in culture, as well as the new hotspots for clubbers to dance the night away surrounded by gorgeous landscapes and beaches with coral reefs and caves.
Is anyone else singing that George Ezra song right now too? Anyway, I always thought that Budapest would be expensive, but it turns out it’s really not at all! The thermal baths are top of my list to go to there, as well as exploring the extravagant buildings and cathedrals. It’s a city with so much character that you could spend days just walking around in awe of the place and soaking up the atmosphere.
