As much as I love the crisp weather and beautiful snowy days, winter definitely doesn’t do anything good for our skin. You think you’ve finally figured out a skincare routine that works for you and then suddenly your skin feels dull and dry and your lips crack and get sore again.
For me, lips are the first thing that the cold weather impacts and are also the most noticeable problem with my skin. As well as looking sore, cracked and dry lips feel horrible and will not make you feel very confident when you’re kissing under the mistletoe this Christmas!
I have two holy grail products when it comes to lip care, the first is the Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips. It’s basically a sugar scrub that acts as an exfoliator for your lips. It also tastes amazing which is an added bonus. It makes such a difference to get rid of all the dry skin and leave your lips feel so smooth.
And of course, after exfoliating they always say to moisturise so I’ve included my favourite lip balm by Burt’s Bees. I’m basically in love with any Burt’s Bees lip balm because they seem to make such a difference to my lips really quickly and also don’t feel like the type that will just rub off within minutes like a lot of lip balms do.
It wouldn’t really be a skincare saviours list if I didn’t include a face moisturiser in there somewhere since it’s pretty essential to any skincare routine.
Since it’s moving into winter, it’s time to put away your lightweight summer moisturisers and switch to a more heavy duty one. It’s back to basics with my top moisturiser with this Nivea Creme that is so thick and perfect for winter. I know a lot of people don’t like heavy moisturisers and I agree when it comes to the day time. But with this one I put it on just before I go to sleep and wake up the next morning with softer skin and I’ve avoided having to deal with the sticky feeling thick moisturisers give you when you wear it all day.
I feel like eye care products get overlooked sometimes when they’re actually such great products to have. The Kiehl’s and Body Shop eye treatments are so creamy and nourishing for your under eyes that they have to be up there with my favourites.
Dark circles can make your face feel so dull and tired and these eye creams can honestly work wonders, not to mention for generally moisturising your eyes which makes concealer look so much smoother when you apply it.
Something A Bit Glowy…
Not technically a skincare product, but finding a product that can make your skin glow in the cold, dreary winter days can make all the difference. Glowy products make you look so healthy and awake and that’s why I love them.
Whether it’s a glowy primer like the Benefit Pearl one or a dewy foundation, it can make your skin look so much healthier. I’ve recently been loving mixing a bit of liquid highligher with my foundation and then applying it as normal which ends up giving a really natural glow to help brighten up the cold months.
